Island Villas:
Interior Architecture
Project in progress.
Brief:
To renovate a small collection of beach villas intended to form part of a wider island resort accommodation offering. Due to their close proximity to the existing timber cottages, the design direction focused on establishing visual and material continuity across both accommodation types.
While the architectural language of the villas differs from that of the cottages, a cohesive aesthetic was achieved through a shared palette of colours, materials and finishes, bringing the two typologies into alignment within the broader resort context.
Outcome:
With a larger internal footprint, the villas presented an opportunity to introduce a more relaxed, residential experience. The layouts were reconfigured to support longer stays and slower use of the space, incorporating generous bathroom layouts with integrated bathtubs and indoor planting, alongside defined living areas furnished with comfortable seating.
Externally, the rear terraces were extended to accommodate additional leisure functions, including space for sun loungers, a small plunge pool and a four-seat dining area, allowing guests to dine in-room or gather informally while remaining closely connected to the surrounding landscape.
